Malaysian politics is pretty much the same as other Asian democracies. Most of them evolved from monarchies reaching far back into the past of each of the countries and regions. Malaysia is no exception. It is a Constitutional monarchy and the king´s name is Yang di-Pertuan Agong. There are 14 political parties, and the government is organized along the same lines as the others: executive, judicial and legislative branches.
There is corruption in Malaysia as has been acknowledged by the government. When the current Prime Minister, Dato Seri Abdullh Ahmad Badawi, took office, he made an oath to rid the government of corruption. The National Integrity Plan (NIP) was ennacted to do just that.
Of course, we all know that corruption is almost impossible to route out as corrupt official can easily get around the laws and regulations governing corruption. Especially bribes are very hard to identify and cure.
